-An ability to look at a mundane thing in a totally new light
-An ability to create order
-A concern for the ecology of our planet
-A love of learning
-An appreciation for new things
-A curiosity about life
-A greater concern for the welfare of others
-A desire to contribute something positive in the world
-A love for fun and laughter
Children all around us have these gifts and more.
To acknowledge to your child the gifts he or she has is a very, very powerful tool.
It teaches self worth. It builds confidence. It promotes recognition that we all are special in our own way.
Acknowledgment of your child’s gifts demonstrates he or she is special and has something to contribute that is needed in the world. We all are special in that we each have our natural gifts. Teach your child their gifts are a part of who they are. No one can take that away because it is part of them; just like their eye color, or the color of their skin.
Help your child recognize what their gifts are. Identify ways the gifts can be shared within your family and within the community.
As you think about your child’s gifts, think about your own—
How can YOU share your gifts with your children, your family, and your community?
